When someone complains online that they have been poisoning their cat with essential oils I feel sad. First if you own a cat let me share with you that lavender, eucalyptus and lemongrass are used in natural cat repellents, thus they would not be great choices for a cat just knowing that. Second like tiny humans, tiny furbabies are going to be more sensitive to any essential oil, period. One drop for you in the air is far less toxic than one drop for them. Also, cats do not metabolize phenol compounds well at all. Examples of oils containing Phenols – Wintergreen, Anise, Birch, Clove, Basil, Tarragon, Fennel, Oregano, Thyme, Mountain Savory, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Calamus, Cinnamon Bark, Citronella, Marjoram, Nutmeg, Eucalyptus citriodora, Parsley, Ylang Ylang. PetMD also has a whole list of plants that are toxic to cats. Animals need us to educate ourselves because they can't. #essentialoils #oilsafety #cats
